Bossier Animal Hospital was established by Dr. Pete Martin at its current location in 1958. It was one of the first, if not the first, animal hospitals in Bossier City. Originally, both livestock and companion animals were treated at the hospital. Dr. Ronny Hampton and Dr. James Willis formed a partnership in the early 1960s and purchased the hospital from Dr. Martin. The partnership eventually grew to include more veterinary hospitals in the Shreveport-Bossier area. Dr. Hampton managed Westside Animal Hospital and Dr. Willis managed Bossier Animal Hospital. Dr. Willis needed assistance to operate Bossier Animal Hospital so they would hire associates, primarily newly graduated doctors for this purpose. Many of the veterinarians in the area originally came to the area and worked at Bossier Animal Hospital before opening their own practices. Dr. Snyder was hired in May of 1989 after graduation from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. He worked as an associate for five years and then was given the opportunity to become partners with Dr. Willis. Dr. Willis retired from Bossier Animal Hospital in 1997 and Dr. Snyder has been the owner of the hospital since that time. Bossier Animal Hospital has provided affordable quality veterinary care for the people and animals of the area for over 50 years.
